I have played with the free edition. Quite easy to install because its a windows application. I think the feature set of PBXNSIP is nicer. however you cant complain about free.

We have really enjoyed our pbxnsip unit. we have the CS410 with polycom phones. The phones are plug and play. To update a user is all on a web page and i reboot the phone and its done.

Super easy. Audio is excellent.

This is a really good system. I just installed my first one. Lots of features for the cost.

For a SMB environment this is a really nice system.

Only thing is you cant have the incoming call ring directly to a persons VM. so at night time mode you have to go to an AA not directly to VM.

only flaw i have found so far.

I love everything about this product except is does not have an operator console.
It does emulate a key system so you can see on your phone who is busy however.

PBX system has a rich feature set and is very stable.

If your a geek who loves Linux asterisk rulz.

However most businesses are not like this and end up spending a lot of money in maintenance. People hear the buzz free open source and want to it, but they never realize asterisk is high maintenance. I have seen so many companies throw lots of money into phone and get burned after the fact in service calls.

BUT, if you into self maintenance go for it.

ESI is, in my opinion, one of the BEST telephone systems out there. Hybrid system can mix any combination of Digital and VoIP telephones. VoIP phones have NO loss of functionality.

I really like HUD. It hangs quite often (one per week or so). But when it works its very cool.

Chat and drag-n-drop call transfers.

HUD is a cool app, but its buggy. server crashes all the time.

Never Never buy such a stupid hybrid product. You own nothing and bleed you forever.

You have to give it a half way good rating because its free.

Most people require someone with asterisk knowledge to install it, expensive.

Service intense! Open Source Telephony is good but still early in development.
Good solution for SMB office enviroment. ACD yuck
